Description

4,4'-Dithiodimorpholine (CAS 103-34-4), commonly known as DTDM or Morpholine disulfide, is a sulfur-donor curing agent used in rubber vulcanization. It releases active sulfur during processing to form cross-links within elastomer networks. This chemical enables controlled cure without relying on elemental sulfur alone. In tire manufacturing, DTDM is used in efficient vulcanization (EV) and semi-EV systems to produce compounds with improved heat aging resistance.

It helps reduce reversion, which is critical for components like sidewalls and inner liners. Rubber goods producers use it in mechanical goods, belts, and hoses where long-term thermal stability under dynamic stress is a priority. It functions effectively as a secondary curative alongside accelerators such as CBS or TBBS. This allows formulators to fine-tune crosslink density and polysulfide distribution for specific industrial requirements.

Accel R is a recognized trade designation under which this material is supplied for compounding applications. DTDM is supplied as an off-white to pale yellow powder or as pre-dispersed masterbatch forms. These forms are suited for mixing line integration in large scale facilities. Technical and rubber-grade specifications are standard across the market, with purity typically confirmed by active sulfur content.

The melting point range is also a key indicator of quality for this material. Packaging is available in multi-kilogram bags through to bulk quantities for industrial compounders and chemical distributors.
