Where is Vinyl acetate used?
- Adhesives and packaging: PVAc emulsions for wood glues, paper laminates and flexible packaging coatings
- Textiles and nonwovens: EVA copolymer binder systems and fabric finishing treatments
- Plastics: EVA resins for foam compounds, hot-melt adhesives and flexible film extrusion
- It undergoes polymerization to produce polyvinyl acetate and serves as a co-monomer in EVA and PVOH production.
Good to know: Stabilized liquid monomer, typically inhibited with hydroquinone to prevent premature polymerization during storage and transport. At flavor-grade purity it also functions as a synthetic flavoring intermediate in food and fragrance applications.
