Catechol (CAS 120-80-9), also known as Pelagol Grey C and oxyphenic acid, is an aromatic diol used in personal care, pharmaceutical, and industrial manufacturing.

Where is Catechol used?

• Cosmetics and hair care: oxidative coupler in permanent hair dye formulations, producing grey and dark tones with primary intermediates
• Pharmaceuticals: synthetic intermediate for catecholamine-based active ingredients, including cardiovascular and neurological compounds
• Textile and leather: dyeing processes and tanning formulations requiring controlled oxidative chemistry
• Rubber and polymer processing: stabilizer and antioxidant that inhibits oxidative degradation
