Description

Sodium Iron DTPA (CAS 12389-75-2), also known as DTPA Fe or Iron Chelate, is a synthetic iron-chelated micronutrient used to deliver bioavailable iron in conditions where conventional iron salts fail.

It maintains iron in a soluble, plant-accessible form across a broad pH range, making it the preferred iron source in alkaline and calcareous soils. In agriculture, it is applied as a foliar spray or soil drench.

This product is used to correct iron-deficiency chlorosis in high-value crops including citrus, grapes, and ornamentals where soil pH limits iron uptake. Hydroponic and fertigation systems rely on it as a stable iron source.

In these nutrient solutions, competing ions would otherwise precipitate unformulated iron salts. Water treatment operations use it to sequester iron and prevent scale formation or discoloration in industrial and municipal systems.

It also functions as a stabilizer in certain industrial formulations where free iron ions would catalyze oxidative degradation. Sodium Iron DTPA is supplied as a water-soluble powder or liquid concentrate.

Liquid forms are typically offered at 6% or 11% iron content by weight. Technical and agricultural grades are the most commonly traded specifications for this chemical compound in the global market.

Purity and chelated iron content are the primary quality parameters referenced in procurement and product certification. These standards ensure the efficacy of the chelate in various industrial and agricultural applications.
