Diethylenetriamine penta(methylene phosphonic acid) heptasodium salt (CAS 68155-78-2), commonly identified by the abbreviation DTPMP·Na7, is a high-performance phosphonate chelating agent supplied in alkaline salt form. It functions by sequestering hardness ions and inhibiting scale formation and corrosion across industrial water systems and process fluids. In water treatment, it controls calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate.

It also manages barium sulfate scale in cooling towers, boilers, and reverse osmosis systems, even at low dosage levels. Textile and leather processors use it to deactivate metal ions that interfere with dyeing. This ensures dyeing uniformity and bleaching efficiency.
