Tetrakis(2-hydroxypropyl)ethylenediamine
Description
Tetrakis(2-hydroxypropyl)ethylenediamine, also known as CAS 102-60-3, is a multifunctional amine alcohol used across industrial formulations for chelation, pH buffering, and crosslinking. Its combination of amine and hydroxyl groups makes it effective at sequestering metal ions and acting as a reactive building block in polymer systems. In water treatment, it sequesters heavy metal ions.
This process prevents scale formation and improves process water quality. Coatings and adhesives formulators use it as a crosslinking agent and curing component, particularly in epoxy and polyurethane systems. In these applications, controlled reactivity is required for optimal performance. In home care and industrial cleaning products, it functions as a chelating agent that deactivates hardness ions.
This action improves surfactant efficiency and formulation stability. Plastics and polymer manufacturers incorporate it as a reactive intermediate or stabilizer to modify network structure and processing behavior. The product is supplied as a clear to slightly yellow viscous liquid. It is available in technical grade, with concentrations typically around 85–100%, suited to industrial processing requirements.
Bulk supply in drums and intermediate bulk containers (IBCs) is standard across the market. This ensures reliable logistics and handling for large-scale manufacturing and chemical processing facilities.
