Description

Triethylenetetramine (CAS 112-24-3), commonly abbreviated as TETA, is a polyamine used across polymer, textile, and specialty chemical manufacturing. It functions primarily as a curing agent, cross-linker, and pH buffer in industrial formulations.

In epoxy resin systems, TETA acts as a room-temperature hardener, enabling cross-linking in coatings, adhesives, and composite materials where controlled cure speed and mechanical strength are required.

Textile and leather processors use it as a pH regulator and fixative in dyeing and finishing baths, improving dye uptake and process consistency. This ensures high-quality results across various industrial applications.

In flame retardant formulations, it serves as a reactive intermediate or building block for nitrogen-containing compounds that contribute to char formation in polymer matrices. This enhances the safety profile of materials.

Personal care formulators incorporate TETA as a pH adjuster in select rinse-off products and as a chelating component in formulations requiring amine-based buffering. It provides stability and performance in these settings.

TETA is supplied as an amber to light yellow liquid in standard industrial packaging including drums and IBCs. Technical grade is the most common commercial form for large-scale manufacturing needs.

Higher-purity grades are available for specialty polymer and personal care applications. Buyers should confirm amine content and purity specification against their curing or formulation requirements before sourcing.
