In polymer manufacturing, PMDETA functions as a ligand for copper catalysts in ATRP, enabling precise molecular weight control in the production of specialty acrylates, methacrylates, and block copolymers.

Polyurethane formulators use it as a tertiary amine catalyst to balance gel and blow reactions in flexible and rigid foam systems, as well as in coatings and adhesives for construction.
