Tetramethylhexamethylenediamine (CAS 111-18-2), commonly abbreviated as TMHDA, is a tertiary diamine used across polymer chemistry, catalysis, and specialty chemical synthesis. Known also as 1,6-Bis(dimethylamino)hexane, it functions primarily as a catalyst, curing agent, and pH modifier in industrial formulations. In polyurethane and epoxy systems, it acts as a curing and crosslinking agent.

It influences gel time and final network density, which are parameters critical to formulators specifying mechanical performance. It serves as a catalyst precursor in organometallic and coordination chemistry. Its bifunctional amine structure supports ligand design for pharmaceutical and fine chemical synthesis. In personal care formulations, it contributes to pH regulation in systems requiring controlled alkalinity.
