HDTMP hexapotassium salt
Description
HDTMP hexapotassium salt (CAS 38820-59-6), also referenced in procurement as K6HMDTMP, is the fully neutralized potassium form of hexamethylenediamine tetra(methylenephosphonic acid).
It functions as a high-performance scale inhibitor, corrosion inhibitor, and chelating agent across water-intensive industrial processes. In water treatment, it controls calcium carbonate and calcium sulfate.
It also manages barium sulfate scale formation in cooling towers, boilers, and reverse osmosis systems. It is particularly effective at elevated temperatures and high pH where many phosphonates underperform.
Oil and gas operations use it in oilfield water injection systems to prevent mineral deposition in pipelines and downhole equipment. Textile and leather processing facilities apply it to sequester hardness ions.
This application in dyebaths and process water improves dye uptake consistency and reduces metal interference. In paper manufacturing, it stabilizes process water chemistry and inhibits scale on equipment surfaces.
It is used throughout pulp and bleaching stages to maintain efficiency. HDTMP hexapotassium salt is supplied as an aqueous solution, with active content concentrations typically in the range of 30–40%.
It is available in technical grade suitable for industrial water treatment and process chemical formulations. Bulk supply is standard for large-scale industrial buyers and formulators.
