Glyceryl caprylate
Description
Glyceryl caprylate (CAS 26402-26-6), also known as 1-Monocaprylin, is a monoglyceride ester of caprylic acid used across food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.
It functions simultaneously as an emulsifier, humectant, and mild preservative. This combination reduces the need for multiple additives in a single formulation for various industrial applications.
In personal care and cosmetics, it conditions skin while extending product shelf life by inhibiting microbial growth. It is a preferred multifunctional ingredient in creams, lotions, and leave-on treatments.
Food manufacturers incorporate it as an emulsifier in bakery products, dairy alternatives, and spreads where fat-water stability is critical for the final product quality and texture.
Pharmaceutical formulators use it to improve the homogeneity and stability of topical preparations and soft gel capsule fills. Its preservative-boosting effect allows for reduced synthetic preservative loads.
Glyceryl caprylate is supplied as a white to off-white solid or waxy paste, depending on purity and processing. It is available in food-grade and cosmetic-grade specifications for global distribution.
High-purity grades meeting USP and Ph.Eur. standards are available for pharmaceutical applications. Bulk supply is typically offered in kilogram bags or drums suited to industrial-scale formulation.
