Description

Bis(2-(methacryloyloxy)ethyl) phosphate (CAS 32435-46-4) is a bifunctional phosphate monomer combining a reactive methacrylate group with a pendant phosphate moiety. It is recognized in procurement as bis(methacryloyloxyethyl) hydrogen phosphate.

The phosphate functionality delivers flame retardancy and surface adhesion promotion directly within a polymerizable matrix. This eliminates the need for separate additive packages in many industrial formulations.

In UV- and thermally-cured coatings, it acts as a reactive flame-retardant monomer that becomes chemically bound into the polymer network. This prevents plasticizer-style migration losses over time in the finished product.

Adhesive and sealant formulators use it to improve bonding to metal and mineral substrates. The phosphate group coordinates with surface oxides to enhance adhesion without the requirement of a separate primer layer.

In printing inks and packaging coatings, it supports substrate wetting and anchorage on difficult surfaces. This is particularly effective for applications involving aluminum foil and various treated films.

Polymer compounders incorporate it as a co-monomer to introduce inherent flame retardancy into acrylic systems. These materials are frequently targeted at demanding electronics and construction applications.

The product is supplied as a liquid, typically with an inhibitor added to prevent premature polymerization during storage. Technical grade is the standard commercial offering for most industrial users.

Purity specifications are commonly confirmed by acid value and phosphorus content assays. Packaging ranges from small quantities for R&D sampling to bulk drum supply for large-scale industrial formulation.
