Description

Trimethyl phosphate (CAS 512-56-1), also known as TMP and trimethyl orthophosphate, is an organophosphate ester used industrially as a flame retardant additive and pH buffering agent.

Its low volatility and thermal stability make it a practical processing aid across polymer, textile, and cleaning formulations. In plastics and polymer manufacturing, TMP functions as a flame retardant plasticizer.

It is incorporated into resins and coatings to meet fire performance specifications. Textile processors use it as a finishing agent where controlled phosphate release contributes to flame resistance in treated fabrics.

In home care and industrial cleaning formulations, TMP acts as a pH buffer and sequestrant to stabilize active ingredients across varying water hardness conditions. This ensures product stability and performance.

The leather and paper industries apply it during processing stages where controlled acidity and surface treatment consistency are required. It is a versatile chemical for diverse industrial manufacturing needs.

Trimethyl phosphate is supplied as a clear liquid in drum and IBC quantities, with bulk tanker options available for larger procurement volumes. Technical grade is the standard commercial offering.

Purity levels are typically at 99% or higher for industrial applications. Buyers sourcing for specialty polymer or electronics applications should confirm specification sheets against process-specific purity requirements.
