Triphenylphosphine
Description
Triphenylphosphine (CAS 603-35-0), commonly abbreviated as TPP, is a phosphorus-based ligand and reagent used across pharmaceutical synthesis, polymer stabilization, and specialty chemical manufacturing. It functions primarily as a catalyst component, reducing agent, and stabilizer precursor in demanding industrial processes. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, TPP is a key reagent in Mitsunobu and Wittig reactions.
This material enables stereoselective synthesis of active pharmaceutical ingredients at scale. Polymer producers incorporate it as a processing stabilizer and catalyst precursor in polyester and polyurethane systems. In these applications, it controls oxidative degradation during high-temperature compounding. Printing ink and packaging formulators use TPP-derived systems as photoinitiator components and stabilizers.
These additives extend the service life of UV-curable coatings. In specialty catalyst systems, it acts as a ligand for palladium, rhodium, and other transition metals, supporting cross-coupling reactions. Such reactions are critical to fine chemical production. Triphenylphosphine is supplied as a white crystalline powder and is available in technical grade for industrial catalyst and polymer applications.
It is also offered in high-purity grades meeting pharmaceutical manufacturing requirements. Packaging options typically range from kilogram-scale bags to bulk drum quantities to suit various needs. These formats support both R&D and production-scale procurement. Our logistics network ensures reliable delivery of this essential phosphorus-based reagent for your specific industrial requirements.
