Triphenyl phosphite
Description
Triphenyl phosphite (CAS 101-02-0), also sold under the trade name Advance TPP, is an organophosphorus ester used as a stabilizer and processing aid across polymer, rubber, and lubricant manufacturing. TPP functions primarily as a secondary antioxidant and co-stabilizer, intercepting hydroperoxides during thermal processing to protect finished materials from degradation. In plastics compounding, it is incorporated into PVC and polyolefins.
The additive is used in engineering resins to suppress discoloration and extend service life during high-temperature processing. Rubber and tire manufacturers use it as a processing stabilizer and mild plasticizer. This chemical improves flow and reduces premature vulcanization side reactions in various rubber applications. Lubricant formulators add TPP as an antioxidant component in industrial oils and metalworking fluids.
Oxidative stability under load is a key formulation requirement where this product excels. It also acts as an intermediate in the synthesis of other phosphorus-based flame retardants and specialty additives. The material is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid at ambient conditions. Standard commercial grades include technical and industrial purity levels, typically specified at 99%+ purity with defined acid value.
Color limits are strictly monitored to ensure consistency across different production batches. Packaging is available in drums and IBC containers suited to bulk industrial procurement for global distribution.
