Triclopyr butoxyethyl ester
Description
Triclopyr butoxyethyl ester (CAS 64700-56-7), also marketed as Garlon 4, is the ester formulation of triclopyr used as a selective systemic herbicide. It controls broadleaf weeds, woody plants, and brush species in agricultural and forestry management programs. In forestry and vegetation management, it is applied to suppress competing hardwood species and invasive brush, allowing conifer regeneration without damaging grass understory. Turf and pasture managers use it to eliminate broadleaf weeds.
Rights-of-way contractors apply it for long-term brush control along utility corridors, roadsides, and pipeline easements where repeated mechanical clearing is cost-prohibitive. It is also used in aquatic-adjacent environments for target species. The oil-soluble ester formulations are specified for penetrating waxy or bark-covered target species effectively. Triclopyr butoxyethyl ester is supplied as an emulsifiable concentrate, typically at 480 g/L active ingredient.
This concentration is suitable for dilution and spray application in various industrial settings. Technical-grade material is available for formulators producing end-use herbicide products under registered labels. Bulk supply is standard for agrochemical manufacturers and toll formulators operating under regulatory approvals in their respective markets. The product meets rigorous industrial specifications for purity and stability during storage.
