Description

Cyhalofop-butyl (CAS 122008-85-9) is a selective post-emergent herbicide active ingredient used in rice cultivation to control grass weeds. It targets key problem species such as barnyardgrass and other annual grasses that compete directly with paddy rice crops. In flooded and direct-seeded rice systems, this compound is formulated into emulsifiable concentrates and suspension concentrates applied after crop emergence. These applications eliminate graminaceous weeds without damaging the rice stand.

Formulators incorporate it into ready-to-use herbicide products for both transplanted and direct-seeded paddy fields across major rice-growing markets. This includes key agricultural regions in Asia, Latin America, and Europe. It is also used in combination formulations alongside broadleaf herbicides to deliver broader-spectrum weed control within a single application. This versatility makes it a staple for modern integrated pest management strategies.

Contract manufacturers and generic agrochemical producers source the technical-grade active ingredient for downstream formulation. These materials are then processed into registered crop protection products for commercial distribution. The material is supplied as a technical-grade active ingredient, typically as a liquid or solid depending on purity level. Technical grades are commonly available at 95% or higher purity to meet industrial requirements.

Formulated product grades are available as emulsifiable concentrate (EC) and oil dispersion (OD) presentations. Supply is available in bulk quantities suited to industrial formulators and registered product manufacturers.
