Bispyribac
Description
Bispyribac (CAS 125401-75-4) is a pyrimidinyloxybenzoic acid herbicide used in rice cultivation to control a broad spectrum of weeds. Bispyribac sodium, its commercially dominant salt form, is the active ingredient found in selective post-emergence herbicide formulations.
These formulations target grassy and broadleaf weeds in paddy fields. The primary use is selective weed control in transplanted and direct-seeded rice, where it inhibits acetolactate synthase (ALS) to suppress weeds such as barnyardgrass and sedges.
It effectively manages broadleaf species without damaging the crop. Formulated as aqueous solutions or water-dispersible granules, it is applied post-emergence at low use rates, making it a cost-efficient active for rice-growing regions.
Agrochemical manufacturers incorporate it into single-active and combination herbicide products registered for paddy and upland rice systems. It is also used as a reference standard in residue analysis and regulatory submission workflows.
Bispyribac sodium is the primary commercial form supplied as a technical-grade solid or as formulated concentrates. Standard supply formats include technical material (TC) and soluble concentrate (SC) formulations at defined concentrations.
Material is typically assessed against established agrochemical purity specifications aligned with FAO/WHO guidelines. This ensures the chemical meets the necessary safety and efficacy requirements for global agricultural distribution and application.
