Haloxyfop-p-methyl
Description
Haloxyfop-p-methyl (CAS 72619-32-0), also marketed as Gallant Super, is the R-enantiomer methyl ester form of haloxyfop. It is a selective post-emergent herbicide active ingredient used to control grassy weeds in broadleaf crops. The substance is absorbed through foliage and translocated systemically, disrupting fatty acid synthesis in target grass species. In soybean, canola, sunflower, and sugar beet cultivation, it is formulated into emulsifiable concentrate herbicides.
These products are applied post-emergence to eliminate annual and perennial grass weeds without damaging the broadleaf crop. It is a primary active ingredient used against problem species such as volunteer cereals and wild oats. Formulators targeting high-efficacy, low-dose herbicide products source the technical-grade active substance for blending into registered crop protection formulations. This allows for effective weed control at lower application rates.
Its single-enantiomer composition provides advantages compared to racemic haloxyfop, a factor relevant to both formulation economics and regulatory positioning. It is supplied as a technical-grade solid or as a formulated concentrate. Technical-grade material is the standard procurement form for agrochemical manufacturers and registrants. Purity specifications for technical-grade supply typically align with FAO/WHO pesticide specifications.
