Description

Butylated melamine formaldehyde resin (CAS 68002-25-5) is a thermosetting crosslinker used to cure hydroxyl-, carboxyl-, and amino-functional resins in industrial coating and polymer systems.

It delivers durable, chemically resistant networks upon heat activation, making it a core component in high-performance finish formulations for various industrial sectors.

In automotive and industrial coatings, it crosslinks polyester, alkyd, and acrylic binders to produce hard, scratch-resistant topcoats with excellent gloss retention and durability.

Textile and leather finishers apply it to impart crease resistance, dimensional stability, and improved surface durability to treated fabrics and hides during the finishing process.

In paper manufacturing, it functions as a wet-strength and surface-sizing agent, improving resistance to moisture and mechanical stress during high-speed industrial processing.

Adhesive and sealant formulators incorporate it to increase cohesive strength and thermal resistance in structural bonding applications across the construction and assembly industries.

This resin is supplied as a liquid solution, typically in butanol or xylene-based carriers, at varying solids concentrations suited to coating and adhesive manufacturing requirements.

The Technical grade is the standard commercial offering, with specifications defined by solids content, viscosity, and free formaldehyde levels for industrial use.
