Benzoguanamine
Description
Benzoguanamine (CAS 91-76-9) is a triazine-based monomer used as a reactive building block in thermoset resin systems. It functions as a crosslinker, flame retardant, and UV stabilizer across coatings, polymer, and textile processing applications. In amino resin formulations, this compound reacts with formaldehyde to produce benzoguanamine-formaldehyde resins. These deliver harder, more water-resistant films than standard melamine resins, making them preferred in industrial coil and can coatings.
Textile and paper finishing operations use these resins to impart wrinkle resistance and dimensional stability to treated substrates. In polymer compounding, it acts as a flame retardant additive, contributing char-forming behavior. This functionality helps manufacturers meet fire performance requirements in engineering plastics. Adhesive and sealant formulators incorporate it as a crosslinking agent where improved chemical resistance and surface hardness are required.
The material is supplied as a white crystalline powder for industrial use. Technical and industrial grades are the standard commercial forms, with purity levels typically at 98–99%+ as confirmed by HPLC or titration methods. Packaging is available in bags and fiber drums suited to bulk industrial procurement. Our logistics team ensures that all shipments meet the necessary safety and handling requirements for global distribution to your facility.
