Description

2-Aminobenzothiazole (CAS 136-95-8), also known commercially as 2-Benzothiazolamine, is a heterocyclic aromatic compound used as a chemical intermediate and curing agent across rubber, textile, and specialty chemical manufacturing. Its reactive amine group makes it a building block for accelerators, dyes, and pigment systems where precise cross-linking performance is required. In rubber and tire production, it functions as a precursor to sulfenamide-class accelerators.

These accelerators control vulcanization rate and improve finished product consistency. Textile and leather processors use it in the synthesis of azo dyes and optical brighteners, where it contributes to color fastness and substrate bonding. Specialty pigment manufacturers incorporate it into heterocyclic chromophore systems for industrial coatings and printing inks. It also serves as an intermediate in agrochemical and pharmaceutical synthesis.

The benzothiazole scaffold is a recognized pharmacophore building block for active ingredient development. 2-Aminobenzothiazole is supplied as an off-white to pale yellow crystalline powder for industrial use. Technical grade is the standard commercial offering, with high-purity grades available for synthesis and research applications. Packaging typically ranges from kilogram quantities up to multi-tonne bulk supply.
