N-cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazosulfenamide
Description
N-Cyclohexyl-2-benzothiazolesulfenamide (CAS 95-33-0), commercially known as Accelerator CBS or Accelerator CZ, is a delayed-action sulfenamide accelerator used in the vulcanization of natural and synthetic rubber.
It enables controlled crosslinking by providing a processing safety window before cure onset, which is critical for complex rubber compound manufacturing. In tire manufacturing, CBS accelerates sulfur vulcanization of tread and sidewall compounds.
This is essential where scorch resistance during mixing and extrusion must be balanced against fast cure rates at mold temperatures. Mechanical rubber goods producers, including conveyor belts and hoses, rely on it for consistent performance.
It helps achieve uniform crosslink density across thick-section parts. It is also used in footwear and industrial molded goods where dimensional accuracy depends on predictable flow before the cure initiation begins.
CBS frequently appears in combination systems with secondary accelerators such as TBBS or DPG to fine-tune cure speed and plateau behavior. It is supplied as an off-white to pale yellow powder or granules.
The granular form is often preferred for dust-free handling in industrial compounding operations. Standard commercial grades meet rubber chemical specifications with defined active content and melting point ranges.
It is available in technical grade, with some suppliers offering low-dust or pre-dispersed masterbatch formats for automated dosing lines. This ensures high efficiency and safety during the chemical handling process.
