Ethoxylated alcohols, C14-15
Description
Ethoxylated alcohols, C14-15 (CAS 68951-67-7), also marketed as C14-15 Pareth-7, is a nonionic surfactant derived from fatty alcohols in the C14–C15 chain range. It functions as an emulsifier, wetting agent, and detergent across a broad range of industrial and consumer formulations.
In home care and industrial cleaning, it is formulated into hard surface cleaners, degreasers, and laundry detergents where low-foam or controlled-foam profiles are required. These applications benefit from its high efficiency in removing oils.
Personal care manufacturers incorporate it into rinse-off products such as body washes and shampoos to support emulsification and skin-compatible cleansing. Its mild nature makes it suitable for various cosmetic formulations.
Textile processors use it as a wetting and scouring agent to improve fiber penetration during dyeing and finishing operations. This ensures uniform color distribution and high-quality results in textile manufacturing processes.
In industrial settings, it also functions as a dispersant in emulsion polymerization and agricultural formulations. It helps stabilize mixtures and ensures the active ingredients are distributed evenly throughout the solution.
Ethoxylated alcohols, C14-15 is supplied as a liquid or paste, depending on the degree of ethoxylation and ambient temperature. Standard commercial grades are available for industrial, household, and personal care applications.
Ethoxylation levels are typically specified by the average number of ethylene oxide units, such as 7 EO. Technical and cosmetic-grade material is available to meet formulator requirements across different regulatory frameworks.
