Hydroxylamine
Description
Hydroxylamine (CAS 7803-49-8), also known as azanol, is an inorganic amine used industrially as a reducing agent, oxime-forming reagent, and pH buffer across chemical manufacturing.
It is commercially available primarily as aqueous solutions or as its stable salt forms, hydroxylamine hydrochloride and hydroxylamine sulfate. In pharmaceutical synthesis, it is a critical intermediate.
This chemical is essential for producing oximes, caprolactam, and active pharmaceutical ingredients where selective nitrogen functionalization is required. Agrochemical manufacturers use it in the synthesis of herbicides.
It is also utilized in fungicides and other crop protection compounds. In textile and paper processing, it functions as a reducing agent to strip dyes and control oxidative degradation during bleaching.
Rubber producers apply it as a stabilizer and vulcanization auxiliary, where it moderates cure rates in specialty elastomer formulations. It is supplied as stabilized aqueous solutions, typically at 50% concentration.
Solid salt forms include hydroxylamine hydrochloride and hydroxylamine sulfate. Technical and reagent grades are the most commonly stocked, with pharmaceutical-grade material available to meet USP standards.
The material also meets Ph. Eur. specifications for high-purity applications. Packaging ranges from drums to IBC totes depending on the specific grade and concentration required for your facility.
