Description

Hydrazine hydrate (CAS 10217-52-4), also known as hydrazine monohydrate, is a concentrated aqueous form of hydrazine used as a reducing agent and chemical intermediate across industrial manufacturing.

It functions primarily as an oxygen scavenger in process systems and as a reactive building block in synthesis. In boiler and steam systems, it removes dissolved oxygen from feedwater to prevent corrosion.

This protects high-pressure equipment in power generation and industrial utilities. Pharmaceutical manufacturers use it as a key intermediate in synthesizing active pharmaceutical ingredients, including antituberculosis compounds.

In agrochemical production, it serves as a precursor in the synthesis of herbicides, fungicides, and plant growth regulators. Water treatment operations also deploy it as a biocide and reducing agent.

It is particularly effective in closed-loop cooling systems where oxygen control is critical. Hydrazine hydrate is supplied as a liquid, with 64% and 80% aqueous concentrations being the most standard grades.

Technical grade is the primary specification for industrial water treatment and chemical synthesis applications. Pharmaceutical-grade material is available for API manufacturing, supplied with documentation.

This material is manufactured to meet relevant pharmacopoeial standards such as USP, Ph.Eur., BP, and EP to ensure the highest level of purity for sensitive applications.
