Description

Decaglycerin monostearate (CAS 79777-30-3) is a polyglycerol ester derived from decaglycerol and stearic acid. It is used as a food-grade emulsifier and rheology modifier across food, cosmetic, and pharmaceutical manufacturing.

Its high hydrophilic character makes it effective at stabilizing oil-in-water emulsions where conventional mono- and diglycerides underperform. In food production, it stabilizes emulsified sauces, dressings, and low-fat spreads.

The compound improves fat dispersion and prevents phase separation during processing and shelf life. Cosmetic formulators incorporate it into creams and lotions to control viscosity and achieve stable emulsion textures.

It allows for stable formulations without the need for heavy wax systems. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, it functions as an excipient in topical and oral formulations where controlled release is required.

It ensures uniform dispersion of active ingredients in various medical applications. Bakery applications benefit from its ability to interact with starch and delay crumb firming in bread and soft baked goods.

Decaglycerin monostearate is supplied as a pale waxy solid or flake, with liquid forms available depending on the supplier's processing. Food-grade material meeting FCC standards is the most commonly traded specification.

Japanese Food Additive Standards are also frequently met by high-quality suppliers. Technical-grade material is available for cosmetic and industrial applications where food certification is not required.
