Epoxidized linseed oil

Epoxidized linseed oil (CAS 8016-11-3) is a bio-based plasticizer and stabilizer derived from linseed oil through an epoxidation process.

Where is Epoxidized linseed oil used?

• PVC and polymer systems: secondary plasticizer and heat/light stabilizer
• PVC compounding: co-plasticizer with phthalates or citrates, improving flexibility and heat-degradation resistance
• Films, cables and flooring
• Coatings: reactive diluent and cross-linking agent in alkyd and epoxy systems, contributing to film hardness and durability
• Adhesives and sealants: flexibility and adhesion under thermal cycling
• Lubricants and metalworking fluids: bio-based base component where low toxicity is required
• It extends the performance of primary plasticizers while improving long-term stability.

Good to know: Specifications are typically defined by oxirane oxygen content and iodine value. Food-contact compliant grades meeting relevant regulatory standards are also available for packaging materials.
