Ethylhexyl triazone
Description
Ethylhexyl triazone (CAS 88122-99-0), also known as octyl triazone and commonly abbreviated as EHT, is a high-performance UVB filter used in sun care and personal care formulations.
It absorbs UV radiation in the 280–320 nm range, protecting both the end user and the formulation itself from photodegradation. This makes it an essential component for modern sun protection products.
EHT is primarily used in sunscreens, day creams, and SPF-boosting formulations where high UVB protection efficiency is required at relatively low use levels. It offers excellent photostability in various systems.
In color cosmetics and leave-on products, it stabilizes other UV filters and active ingredients that would otherwise degrade under sun exposure. This ensures the longevity and efficacy of the final product.
Coatings and polymer manufacturers incorporate it to prevent UV-induced yellowing and surface degradation in outdoor-exposed materials. It provides a critical barrier against environmental stressors.
Adhesives and sealants intended for exterior applications also benefit from its inclusion to extend product service life. This chemical helps maintain structural integrity and appearance over time.
Ethylhexyl triazone is supplied as a white to off-white powder. It is available in cosmetic-grade specification, meeting requirements referenced in the EU Cosmetics Regulation and comparable international standards.
Technical-grade material is also available for industrial applications in coatings and polymer systems. Our product ensures consistent performance across all specified personal care and industrial applications.
