Ecamsule

Ecamsule (CAS 92761-26-7), also marketed as Mexoryl and known by the chemical descriptor Terephthalylidene Dicamphor Sulfonic Acid, is a water-soluble UVA filter for sun care and photoprotection formulations.

Where is Ecamsule used?

• Broad-spectrum sunscreens: lotions, creams and sprays
• Combination systems with UVB filters such as octocrylene or avobenzone to meet SPF and UVA protection ratio requirements under EU and international standards
• Pharmaceutical sunscreens for photosensitive skin conditions
• Aqueous-phase formulations where oil-based UV filters are not preferred
• It is one of the few organic UV absorbers approved for cosmetic and pharmaceutical sunscreen products in major regulated markets.

Good to know: It provides targeted UVA I and UVA II protection that many conventional filters cannot achieve alone.
