Amiloxate
Description
Amiloxate (CAS 71617-10-2), also known as isoamyl p-methoxycinnamate, is an organic UV filter used in sun care and cosmetic formulations. It absorbs UVB radiation, protecting both the skin and the stability of light-sensitive formulations from solar degradation. Amiloxate is primarily used in sunscreens, where it functions as a UVB-absorbing active at concentrations permitted under regional cosmetic regulations. In daily-wear cosmetics such as moisturizers and foundations, it provides incidental UV protection.
This ingredient offers protection without contributing to heavy or greasy textures. Its oil-soluble nature makes it compatible with emollient systems, allowing formulators to incorporate it directly into the oil phase of emulsions. It also appears in lip care and hair protection products where UVB defense is required alongside aesthetic elegance. Amiloxate is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid, suitable for direct blending into oil-phase systems.
It is available in cosmetic-grade specification, and suppliers typically align documentation to INCI and regional regulatory requirements. This includes compliance with the EU Cosmetics Regulation and relevant positive lists. Packaging is generally offered in drums or intermediate bulk containers for commercial quantities. This ensures the material remains stable and easy to handle during large-scale manufacturing processes for personal care products.
