Dibasic ester

Dibasic ester (CAS 95481-62-2), commonly referred to as DBE or marketed under the trade name Estasol, is a blend of dimethyl esters of succinic, glutaric, and adipic acids. It is used as a high-boiling solvent and plasticizer across industrial manufacturing. Its low volatility and strong solvency make it a practical alternative to conventional solvents in demanding coating and polymer applications. In industrial coatings and paint strippers, DBE functions as a coalescing solvent and active stripping agent.

It effectively dissolves cured resins and reduces VOC content in formulations. Adhesive and sealant manufacturers incorporate it as a plasticizer to improve flexibility and substrate adhesion in polyurethane and epoxy systems. In plastics processing, it acts as a processing aid and plasticizer for PVC and other polymer compounds where controlled softening is required. Metalworking fluid formulators use DBE as a carrier solvent and cleaner base.
