Description

Strontium chloride (CAS 10476-85-4) is an inorganic salt supplied primarily for its strontium ion content, which drives its utility across pyrotechnics, electrochemistry, and specialty chemical synthesis.

It functions as a strontium source in processes where controlled ion delivery, flame coloration, or precursor chemistry is required. In pyrotechnics and signal flares, it produces the characteristic crimson-red flame color.

This color defines military and commercial formulations. Battery manufacturers use it as an electrolyte additive or precursor in strontium-based electrode materials for high-performance applications.

In catalyst preparation, it acts as a precursor to strontium oxide and mixed-metal oxide systems used in petrochemical and polymer processing. It is a vital component for these industrial sectors.

Pharmaceutical and specialty chemical producers also use it as a pH buffer and ionic medium in select synthesis and formulation processes. It ensures stability and precision in complex chemical reactions.

Strontium chloride is available as an anhydrous powder and as the hexahydrate crystalline form, with the hexahydrate being the more commonly traded grade for most industrial buyers.

Standard supply specifications include technical grade and reagent grade, with purity levels typically ranging from 98% to 99%+. Packaging is offered in bulk bags and fiber drums suited to procurement.
