Description

Dimethyl phthalate (CAS 131-11-3), commonly sourced as DMP, is a phthalate ester plasticizer and solvent used across polymer processing, personal care manufacturing, and specialty coatings.

It functions primarily as a plasticizer for cellulose-based resins and as a carrier solvent in formulations requiring controlled evaporation and compatibility with polar substrates.

In plastics processing, DMP is used to plasticize cellulose acetate and cellulose acetate butyrate, improving flexibility in film, sheet, and molded components for industrial use.

Personal care manufacturers incorporate it as a solvent and fixative in nail lacquers and hair sprays, where it supports film formation and fragrance retention during application.

In printing inks and coatings, DMP acts as a solvent carrier that aids pigment dispersion and resin dissolution across nitrocellulose-based systems for high-quality finishes.

It also functions as a UV stabilizer in certain polymer formulations, helping to extend the service life of finished plastic articles exposed to light in outdoor environments.

Dimethyl phthalate is supplied as a clear, low-viscosity liquid in drum and IBC quantities. Technical grade is the standard commercial offering, with purity levels typically at 99% or above.

Bulk tanker supply is available from major producers for high-volume industrial buyers. Our logistics network ensures timely delivery of chemical raw materials to your manufacturing facility.
