Diallyl phthalate
Description
Diallyl phthalate (CAS 131-17-9), also known as DAP or by the trade names Dapon R and Dapon 35, is a reactive monomer and plasticizer used primarily in thermoset polymer systems.
It functions as a crosslinking agent and reactive diluent, enabling controlled cure profiles in molding compounds and prepregs. In plastics and composites manufacturing, DAP is used to produce stable compounds.
These thermoset molding compounds are ideal for electrical connectors, circuit boards, and aerospace components where heat and chemical resistance are critical. It improves surface hardness and reduces shrinkage.
As a crosslinker in unsaturated polyester and alkyd resin formulations, it enhances performance. In printing and packaging, DAP-based resins are used in UV-curable coatings and inks for fast cure response.
These resins provide excellent adhesion to substrates. Personal care formulators have incorporated it into nail coating systems where durable, high-gloss film formation is the target performance outcome.
Diallyl phthalate is supplied as a clear to pale yellow liquid in drum and IBC quantities. Both monomer-grade and prepolymer grades are commercially available for various industrial applications.
Dapon-designated prepolymers are a recognized standard in the thermoset compounding market. Technical grade is the predominant specification for most industrial manufacturing requirements.
Buyers should confirm purity and residual monomer content when sourcing prepolymer forms. This ensures the material meets the specific needs of the intended chemical processing or resin formulation.
