Description

Ethylene glycol-MDI copolymer (CAS 25036-33-3), also referenced commercially as Polyurethane y-304 and Polyurethane-39, is a urethane-based polymer formed from the reaction of ethylene glycol with methylene diphenyl diisocyanate.

It functions as a structural resin and crosslinking matrix in polymer systems requiring controlled rigidity, adhesion, and network density. In coatings and adhesive formulations, it contributes crosslink density and substrate bonding performance.

The material provides excellent adhesion across metal, plastic, and composite surfaces. Automotive OEM and refinish applications use it in structural adhesives and underbody sealants where dimensional stability under thermal cycling is required.

Rubber compounding and tire manufacturing incorporate it as a processing aid to modify rheological behavior. It is specifically utilized to improve green strength before vulcanization in various industrial rubber applications.

In rigid and semi-rigid plastic components, it supports network formation that determines final hardness and load-bearing characteristics. This makes it a vital component for manufacturers focusing on high-durability plastic parts.

Ethylene glycol-MDI copolymer is typically supplied as a solid or dispersed resin, depending on the intended processing route. Technical-grade material is the standard commercial offering for most industrial uses.

Specifications are strictly aligned to end-use performance requirements in industrial polymer processing. Packaging is generally available in bulk quantities suited to industrial compounding and formulation operations.
