Acesulfame potassium
Description
Acesulfame potassium (CAS 55589-62-3), also known as Ace-K and E950, is a high-intensity artificial sweetener approximately 200 times sweeter than sucrose. It delivers sweetness without caloric contribution, making it a preferred sugar substitute.
In beverage formulation, Ace-K is commonly blended with aspartame or sucralose to mask residual bitterness and achieve a cleaner sweetness profile across carbonated soft drinks, energy drinks, and flavored waters.
Confectionery and baked goods manufacturers use it to replace sugar in hard candies, chewing gum, and cookies where heat stability during processing is a critical requirement for industrial production lines.
Dairy applications include sugar-free yogurts, flavored milks, and ice cream, where it maintains sweetness intensity without affecting texture or fermentation processes during the manufacturing cycle.
Tabletop sweetener blends and pharmaceutical oral dosage forms such as syrups and chewable tablets also rely on it for palatability, ensuring patient compliance and consumer satisfaction in various markets.
Acesulfame potassium is supplied as a white crystalline powder. It is available in food-grade specification compliant with FCC and E950 purity standards, ensuring high quality for food and beverage use.
The material is also available in pharmaceutical-grade formats meeting USP and Ph. Eur. requirements. Packaging options typically range from small retail bags to bulk quantities suited for industrial-scale production.
