Description

Stevioside (CAS 57817-89-7), also known by its food additive designation E960, is a natural high-intensity sweetener extracted from the leaves of Stevia rebaudiana. It delivers sweetness estimated at 200 to 300 times that of sucrose.

This potency allows formulators to achieve target sweetness profiles at very low inclusion rates. Procurement teams source it as a calorie-free sucrose alternative across food, beverage, and personal care applications globally.

In food and beverage manufacturing, it is used to sweeten reduced-sugar and zero-calorie products including soft drinks, dairy alternatives, and confectionery. It is also a staple in baked goods and specialized nutritional products.

Tabletop sweetener blends frequently combine it with bulking agents such as erythritol or maltodextrin to improve mouthfeel and handling. These combinations help mimic the physical properties of traditional sugar in consumer products.

In personal care formulations, particularly oral care products like toothpastes and mouthwashes, it provides sweetness without fermentable sugars. This makes it an ideal choice for maintaining dental health in consumer goods.

Its humectant behavior also supports moisture retention in certain cosmetic applications where a naturally derived ingredient is preferred. This versatility makes it a valuable raw material for diverse industrial formulations.

The material is supplied as a white to off-white powder. Standard commercial grades include food-grade material meeting FCC specifications, with purity levels commonly declared at 90%, 95%, or 98% by HPLC analysis.

Organic-certified and non-GMO project verified grades are available to meet clean-label sourcing requirements. These high-quality standards ensure the product meets the rigorous demands of modern chemical and food manufacturing.
