Description

Glyceryl cocoate (CAS 61789-05-7), also sold as coco monoglycerides, is a coconut-derived partial glyceride ester used as an emulsifier and skin-conditioning agent across personal care, food, and cleaning formulations.

Derived from coconut fatty acids, it bridges oil and water phases while contributing mild moisturizing properties to finished products. In personal care, it functions as an emulsifier and co-emulsifier in lotions and creams.

It is frequently used in cleansing bars, improving texture and skin feel without heavy residue. Food manufacturers use coco monoglycerides as an emulsifier in bakery products, margarine, and dairy-based formulations.

These applications help to control fat crystallization and extend shelf stability. In home care and industrial cleaning, it acts as a wetting and dispersing agent in liquid detergents and surface cleaners.

This improves substrate contact and soil release during the cleaning process. It also appears in leave-on and rinse-off hair care products where it supports emulsion stability and enhances spreadability.

Glyceryl cocoate is supplied as a pale yellow to off-white solid, paste, or liquid depending on fatty acid composition. Standard commercial grades include food-grade (FCC-compliant) and cosmetic-grade material.

The monoglyceride content is typically specified by the supplier based on the application. Bulk supply is available in drums and IBCs, with some grades offered in kosher or halal-certified form.
