Sodium perchlorate

Sodium perchlorate (CAS 7601-89-0), also known commercially as perchloric acid sodium salt, is a highly soluble inorganic oxidizer.

Where is Sodium perchlorate used?

• Energetic materials: primary raw material in synthesis
• Aerospace and defense: precursor in production of ammonium perchlorate, the dominant oxidizer in solid rocket propellants and pyrotechnic compositions
• Electronics: electrolyte formulations for lithium battery research
• Specialty chemicals: intermediate in synthesizing other perchlorate salts
• It also appears in airbag inflator chemistry and other gas-generating systems.
