Oleth-50

Oleth-50 (CAS 9004-98-2) is a high-ethoxylation oleyl alcohol ethoxylate produced by reacting oleyl alcohol with approximately 50 moles of ethylene oxide. Also known as polyethylene glycol oleyl ether.

Where is Oleth-50 used?

• Personal care: stabilizes oil-in-water emulsions in creams and lotions, contributing a smooth, non-greasy texture
• Textile processing: emulsifier and lubricant in fiber finishing baths, aiding dye dispersion and improving fabric handle
• Metalworking fluids: stabilizes emulsifiable cutting oil concentrates, keeping oil droplets uniformly dispersed
• Leather treatment: carrier and emulsifying agent for even penetration of fatliquoring compounds during tanning
• With its high HLB value it functions as a nonionic emulsifier, solubilizer and rheology modifier in aqueous systems.
