Description

Hexafluorotitanic acid (CAS 17439-11-1) is an inorganic fluorotitanate compound supplied as an aqueous solution, used industrially to deposit titanium-fluoride conversion coatings on metal and non-metal substrates.

It functions as both a surface activator and mild etchant, enabling adhesion promotion and corrosion protection without heavy-metal chemistry. In metal pretreatment and coil coating lines, it forms thin titanium-based conversion layers.

These layers are applied on aluminum, steel, and galvanized surfaces as a chromate-free alternative prior to painting or powder coating. The construction sector uses it in concrete densifiers and facade treatments.

In these applications, it reacts with substrate minerals to harden and seal surfaces. Textile and paper processors apply it to modify fiber or sheet surfaces, improving dye uptake or coating adhesion in continuous processing lines.

Water treatment operations use it at controlled dosing rates for pH adjustment and as a fluoride-source reagent in specific process streams. Hexafluorotitanic acid is supplied as an aqueous solution for industrial use.

Concentrations typically around 50% are standard in commercial trade. Technical grade is the primary market offering, with specifications aligned to metal finishing and surface treatment industry requirements.

Packaging ranges from intermediate bulk containers to drums, depending on volume requirements. This chemical provides a versatile solution for modern manufacturing and surface engineering across multiple global sectors.
