Bemotrizinol

Bemotrizinol (CAS 187393-00-6), commercially recognized as Tinosorb S and abbreviated as BEMT, is a high-performance broadband UV absorber used in sun care and photoprotection formulations. It provides dual UVA/UVB coverage and is valued for its photostability, making it a preferred active for formulators building high-SPF systems. In sun care products, it is used as a primary UV filter.

It is frequently found in sunscreens, day creams, and SPF-boosting formulations, often combined with other organic filters to optimize protection profiles. Personal care manufacturers incorporate it into leave-on products. These include facial moisturizers and foundations where long-term photostability of the formula is critical. In coatings and polymer systems, it functions as a UV stabilizer to prevent photodegradation of substrates.
