Description

Bemotrizinol (CAS 187393-00-6), commercially recognized as Tinosorb S and abbreviated as BEMT, is a high-performance broadband UV absorber used in sun care and photoprotection formulations.

It provides dual UVA/UVB coverage and is valued for its photostability, making it a preferred active for formulators building high-SPF systems. In sun care products, it is used as a primary UV filter.

It is frequently found in sunscreens, day creams, and SPF-boosting formulations, often combined with other organic filters to optimize protection profiles. Personal care manufacturers incorporate it into leave-on products.

These include facial moisturizers and foundations where long-term photostability of the formula is critical. In coatings and polymer systems, it functions as a UV stabilizer to prevent photodegradation of substrates.

This application extends the service life of exterior paints, varnishes, and plastic components. Adhesives and sealant formulations exposed to outdoor conditions also use the material to maintain bond integrity.

Bemotrizinol is supplied as a fine powder and as pre-dispersed liquid suspensions suited for emulsion-based cosmetic systems. Standard cosmetic-grade specifications are the norm for personal care supply.

Technical-grade material is available for industrial polymer and coatings applications. Typical active concentrations in liquid dispersions are around 50%, though powder form allows direct weighing for precise work.
