Bemotrizinol

Bemotrizinol (CAS 187393-00-6), also marketed as Tinosorb S and abbreviated BEMT, is a broadband UV absorber for sun care and photoprotection formulations.

Where is Bemotrizinol used?

• Sun care: primary UV filter providing dual UVA/UVB coverage
• Sunscreens, day creams and SPF-boosting formulations, often combined with other organic filters
• Personal care leave-on products such as facial moisturizers and foundations
• Coatings and polymer systems: UV stabilizer preventing photodegradation of exterior paints, varnishes and plastic components
• Adhesives and sealants exposed to outdoor conditions use it to maintain bond integrity.

Good to know: Photostability makes it a preferred active for high-SPF systems. Liquid dispersions typically contain around 50% active; powder allows direct weighing for precise work.
