Description

Drometrizole (CAS 2440-22-4), commonly known in the industry as UV-P, is a benzotriazole-class UV absorber used to protect organic substrates from photodegradation. It absorbs UV radiation in the 300–385 nm range, preventing yellowing and color fade. This chemical prevents mechanical degradation in light-exposed materials. In plastics and polymer compounding, UV-P is incorporated into polyolefins, PVC, and engineering resins to extend service life in outdoor or UV-exposed end products.

Coatings formulators use it in industrial and architectural finishes where long-term gloss retention and substrate protection are required. Adhesives and sealant manufacturers add it to formulations where UV exposure would cause embrittlement. In personal care, this compound is used as a UV filter in cosmetic formulations including sunscreens and leave-on products. It provides broad UV-A/UV-B protection and ensures the stability of the final consumer product.

The material is supplied as a white to light yellow crystalline powder. It is available in technical grade for industrial polymer and coatings applications, as well as cosmetic grade meeting high purity standards. Packaging typically ranges from kilogram quantities up to multi-hundred kilogram drums to suit both development-scale and commercial production volumes. Our material meets rigorous quality control protocols for consistency.
