Polymaleic acid

Polymaleic acid (CAS 26099-09-2), also known as hydrolyzed polymaleic anhydride (HPMA) or PMA, is a low-molecular-weight polyelectrolyte for water treatment and industrial process chemistry.

Where is Polymaleic acid used?

• Water treatment: scale inhibitor, dispersant and corrosion inhibitor in aqueous systems
• Cooling water and boiler systems: prevents calcium carbonate scale
• Also inhibits calcium sulfate and calcium phosphate scale, extending equipment service life
• Textile and paper processing: dispersant and sequestrant improving dye uptake
• Construction chemistry: retarder and dispersant in cement and gypsum formulations
• Industrial and institutional cleaning: sequesters hardness ions and prevents soil redeposition
