Minoxidil

Minoxidil (CAS 38304-91-5), also marketed as Rogaine® and Regaine, is an active pharmaceutical ingredient used in topical and oral formulations targeting hair loss.

Where is Minoxidil used?

• Topical hair care: active ingredient in scalp solutions and foams at defined concentrations
• OTC products: incorporated into finished-dose products for regulated markets in North America, Europe and Asia-Pacific
• Compounding pharmacies: customized topical preparations, including combination formulations with other actives
• Oral tablets prescribed off-label for hair loss drive procurement volumes.

Good to know: Originally developed as an antihypertensive, it is now the most commercially established API for androgenetic alopecia.
