Description

Copper citrate (CAS 10402-15-0) is an inorganic copper salt of citric acid used across agriculture, food, and industrial applications as a source of bioavailable copper and a broad-spectrum biocide.

Its chelated structure allows controlled copper release, making it effective in formulations where sustained activity or nutritional delivery is required. In agriculture, it is registered as a pesticide and fungicide active ingredient.

It is applied to control fungal and bacterial pathogens on crops where copper bioavailability must be balanced against phytotoxicity risk. Food and feed manufacturers use it as a copper fortification agent in nutritional premixes.

It is also used in mineral supplements and animal feed where a soluble, chelated copper source is preferred over inorganic sulfates. Water treatment formulators incorporate it for algae and microbial control.

This includes use in industrial cooling systems and potable water applications. In pharmaceutical manufacturing, it functions as a copper source in parenteral nutrition solutions and micronutrient supplement formulations.

Copper citrate is available as a fine powder or crystalline solid. It is supplied in technical grade for agricultural and industrial uses, and in food-grade or USP-compliant specifications for applications.

These high-purity grades are essential for nutritional and pharmaceutical applications. Bulk packaging in fiber drums or bags is standard, with smaller quantities available for laboratory and formulation development use.
