Description

Chlorendic acid (CAS 115-28-6) is a chlorinated dicarboxylic acid used as a reactive flame retardant and chemical intermediate in polymer and resin manufacturing. Its high chlorine content is incorporated directly into polymer backbones.

This delivers durable flame retardancy that cannot be washed out or migrated away like additive-type retardants. In unsaturated polyester resins, it is reacted into the polymer chain to produce flame-retardant laminates.

These composites are used in construction panels, ducting, and electrical enclosures. Aerospace and defense applications rely on these resins where self-extinguishing performance must meet stringent specification requirements.

This performance is achieved without compromising structural integrity. Electronics manufacturers use it in circuit board laminates and insulating components where sustained flame resistance under thermal load is a requirement.

It also functions as a monomer in alkyd and specialty resin systems for automotive and industrial coatings. These applications often require halogenated flame-retardant certification for safety and compliance standards.

The product is supplied as an off-white to pale yellow crystalline powder. Technical grade is the standard commercial form, with purity levels typically specified at 98% or higher for reactive resin applications.

Packaging is available in multi-kilogram bags through to bulk quantities to suit both formulation-scale and industrial production sourcing requirements for global chemical distribution and manufacturing.
