Ammonium fluoride
Description
Ammonium fluoride (CAS 12125-01-8), also referenced industrially as NH4F, is an inorganic fluoride salt used as a buffering agent, surface treatment chemical, and flame retardant across several manufacturing sectors.
Its controlled fluoride release makes it effective in processes requiring precise pH management or selective etching action. In electronics manufacturing, it is used in semiconductor wet etching and wafer cleaning formulations.
Controlled oxide removal is critical to circuit integrity in these high-tech applications. Textile and leather processors apply it as a mordant and surface conditioner to improve dye uptake and substrate uniformity.
In paper manufacturing, it functions as a flame retardant additive, reducing combustibility in treated paper products. Building and construction applications include use in masonry treatments and cement formulations.
Fluoride-based buffering aids surface hardening and adhesion in these industrial building materials. Ammonium fluoride is supplied as a white crystalline powder or in aqueous solution form for various uses.
Standard technical and industrial grades are the most commonly available, with purity levels typically ranging from 98% upward for solid material. Bulk quantities are available for industrial procurement.
Smaller packaging options are also maintained for laboratory and specialty formulation use. This ensures that both large-scale manufacturers and research facilities can access the necessary chemical volumes.
