Description

4-Aminophenol (CAS 123-30-8), also known as p-aminophenol, is a primary aromatic amine used as a key chemical intermediate in pharmaceutical synthesis and specialty chemical manufacturing.

Its reactivity toward acylation and coupling reactions makes it a high-demand building block across multiple industrial sectors. In pharmaceuticals, it is the direct precursor to paracetamol.

As one of the world's highest-volume analgesic APIs, it is a critical raw material for bulk drug manufacturers. Hair dye formulations rely on it as an oxidative colorant intermediate.

It couples with other components to produce permanent color in consumer and professional products. It also functions as a photographic developer intermediate in printing and imaging chemistry.

Controlled reduction reactions are essential to image formation in these processes. In rubber and polymer processing, it serves as an antioxidant precursor in the synthesis of stabilizer compounds.

These compounds protect against thermal and oxidative degradation. 4-Aminophenol is supplied as an off-white to light brown crystalline powder for various industrial applications.

Technical grade is the standard commercial form, with pharmaceutical-grade material available to meet API intermediate specifications including purity requirements aligned with USP standards.

Material also meets Ph. Eur. standards for high-purity applications. Packaging typically ranges from small drums to bulk quantities depending on specific customer application requirements.
